BBC film Celebrity Antiques Road Trip in High Road Auctions on Chiswick High Road
The Celebrity Antiques Road Trip team visited the Chiswick saleroom of High Road Auctions this week to film their popular show for the next series. The antiques experts in residence were familiar faces Mark Stacey and James Braxton and the celebrities were actors Christopher Biggins and Lesley Joseph. The film crew were in the saleroom in the afternoon filming the room, shots of the items that the celebrities had purchased and the auctioneer discussion about the lots, with Head of Valuations and branch manager Ross Mercer. "The auction itself was very lively and great fun with the celebrities encouraging the bidders and cheering when their lots did well" said a spokesperson for the company. The popular BBC Two series involves antiques experts accompanying celebrities on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction. Lesley Joseph, (above in centre of photo) star of ITV's 'Birds of a Feather', is no stranger to Chiswick as she was seen in W4 last January when Fino, the women's boutique on Chiswick High Road was transformed into a shop in Chigwell, Essex, for a scene in the popular comedy series. Christopher Biggins, who briefly presented a BBC London radio show with Lesley Joseph in 2008, is a long-established actor and well known for his performances in pantomime, particularly in the role of 'Widow Twankey' in Aladdin. He was winner of 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here' in 2007 and he also took part in the recent series of 'Celebrity Master Chef'. High Road Auctions is a general auction house with galleries in Chiswick and Twickenham. It holds Antiques, Interiors & Collectables auctions every week featuring furniture, silver and jewellery, ceramics, works of art etc and is open seven days a week for free valuations and auction consignments.
