Chiswick branch planning to move to smaller site on the High Road
Carphone Warehouse on Chiswick High Road is to move its branch to the smaller site of the former Coral bookmakers next to Marks and Spencer. The move is expected in September or October. It is not yet known what will happen to the premises it currently occupies on the junction of the High Road and Dukes Avenue. A planning application for the installation of a new shopfront for the former Coral premises has been lodged. Carphone Warehouse parent company, Dixons Carphone, recently announced that some of its mobile phone stores would be merged with Currys and PC World to make 'three in one' stores. This plan did not include Chiswick and it is likely that the move to new premises will retain the shop as a stand alone outlet. There is speculation locally that the corner site may become a restaurant but that would involve a change of use and no such planning application has yet been submitted at his address.
