Chiswick-based Care Concern is up for Best Employer
Chiswick-based business, Care Concern Homecare Ltd, has been short-listed for the Skills for Care Accolades 2014/15 in the 'Best Employer of under 250 staff' category. The Skills for Care Accolades are national awards that recognise organisations and employers who are committed to delivering high quality care and developing their workforce.
Prior to the short-listing decision, a Skills for Care representative visited Care Concern Homecare to see first-hand how they prioritise the training and development of their staff and support them throughout their careers. The representative also spoke with employees and service users.
Catherine Gunnewicht, Registered Manager at Care Concern Homecare said, "To be short-listed as a finalist is incredibly exciting. I'm very proud of our standards and the commitment our carers have to their work. To deliver top quality homecare, our staff must be trained to the highest of standards. To achieve this, we support and mentor our staff through a comprehensive programme of training and we are continuously sourcing additional courses to further enhance their knowledge."
Care Concern Homecare's varied methods of training include mentoring, workplace training, spot checks and supervisions. A number of their staff recently attended a Parkinson's workshop facilitated by someone who has the condition. Staff reported back that the session was 'insightful' and 'inspiring'. It is this focus on delivering interesting and innovative training that leads to a highly skilled workforce who are caring, competent and confident in their roles.
To win the Accolade award would be recognition of the high standards and hard work of Care Concern Homecare. The final judging panels for the Skills for Care Accolades will sit in February 2015 and the winner will be announced on the 12th of March 2015 at a Gala event.
