Local Boroughs Vote To 'Remain'

Result in Hounslow and Ealing showed majority wanting to stay in EU

The vote across the Hounslow borough was narrowly in favour of remaining in the EU compared to a more resounding Remain vote in nearby Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham.

The total number of votes cast in favour of REMAIN in Hounslow was 58,755 (51%)

The turnout in Hounslow was 69.7%.

The total number of votes cast in favour of LEAVE was 56,321 (48.9%)

The result was announced for the borough by the Counting Officer for the Hounslow voting area Mary Harpley on Friday 24 May at 3.50am

The total number of ballot papers counted was 115,208

132 ballots were rejected (39 voted for both answers).

Ealing voted to stay in (60.4%) with 39.6% in the opposing camp.

Council Leader, Julian Bell tweeted the local results saying, ''Ealing is the 3rd most diverse Borough in the country, at ease with ourselves and we voted overwhelmingly to Remain.''

Nearby borough Hammersmith & Fulham voted 70 per cent in favour of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland remaining in the European Union. Thirty per cent voted to leave.
