The Chiswick Bookshop ( which opened on Friday) is part of of Hyde Park Editions, a publishing group currently based in Barley Mow passage which will also move to the Turnham Green Terrace premises. It also has a shop in Bloomsbury. Finishing touches are being put on the refurbishment The front of the shop will sell books, ranging from bestsellers, to art and history, and children's books. The shop will be open from 10 am to the public. The company describes itself as an international UK-based publisher and will operate its publishing section from the rear of the premises. Emily Crane, who is running the business, said that they would offer something different from all the other bookshops in Chiswick. They planned to host lots of events and would be a 'community space'. The company was founded by Emily's father, publisher David Crane, and Nick Croydon, both Chiswick residents who worked in publishing for many years. Hyde Park Editions recently launched a series of children's books, The Hyde Park Squirrels written by its co-founder Nick Croydon, with illustrations by Petra Brown, about the adventures of two squirrels, Luke and Holly Bushytail. Turnham Green Terrace already has an Oxfam second-hand bookshop at the other end of the street. Hyde Park Editions says online that it offers "an exceptional range of many unique titles sourced from around the world." November 5, 2015 |
