Bagista Closes Temporarily Due to Fraud

The handbag shop on Devonshire Road has now reopened

Bagista, the fashion handbag store on Devonshire Road closed temporarily this week after an instance of fraud.

It has not closed permanently as we originally reported and the owner says it has now reopened for the foreseeable future. It is currently holding a sale. The shop sells designer bags from labels such as Michael Kors, Chanel and Prada. It also offers a pre-loved or bag exchange service.

The local independent traders on Devonshire Road have been under severe pressure. Abode, the homewares and gift shop has recently closed, as has London Zu.

A local source said that increasing commercial rents was playing a big part in the demise of the independent traders. Online shopping is also being blamed for loss of business to small shops.
