A sale of Modern & Post-War British Art features a selection of works from Chiswick-based artists, including works from the estate of Bernard Myers – a former resident Chiswick and the celebrated artist Mary Fedden.

There is expected to be wide-ranging interest in the auction on Tuesday (April 16th) from dealers and art lovers, both in the rooms at Chiswick Auctions and online. There are three days of viewing ahead of the auction which starts at 1 pm Tuesday.

Celebrated local artist the late Mary Fedden has one work featured, a portrait of her husband, fellow artist Julian Trevelyan holding their cat (above) which is expected to fetch between £12,000-£18,000.

There are also several works from the estate of Bernard Myers, former Chiswick resident. Bernard Myers had his studio at St Peter’s Wharf on Chiswick Mall where he continued to paint the river and sky despite a series of strokes, until his death in 2007.

Other notable artists include Fred Cuming RA, John Piper CH, Walter Sickert ARA and many others.

The most expensive item in the catalogue is an industrial scene in pencil by LS Lowry, which is listed at between £40,000 to £60,000. There are also other smaller Lowry pictures included.
