Sale of eastern pottery will aid the Chiswick Timeline
A collection of ancient Siamese and provincial Ming Dynasty pottery will go on sale on Sunday 11 June, at the Bedford Park Festival Green Days, in aid of The Chiswick Timeline. Vanessa Costello, better known for her community work in Southfield ward Chiswick, will be selling the collection of ancient artefacts and a variety of other antiques, to help raise funds for the local project. The Chiswick Timeline is being created by Abundance London who plan to mount a huge mural of historic maps in vitreous enamel under the railway arches at Turnham Green tube station. Vanessa who is a third-generation art dealer by profession, semi-retired in 2012 after specialising in classical Greek, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities and ancient Chinese ceramics for over 25 years. She decided to help raise funds for the project when she learned it was just short of the £100,000 funding needed. Vanessa said, “The Chiswick Timeline is going to be a superb piece of contemporary artwork celebrating the areas rich history and development. I want to help the creators in a final push to reach their target funding. Hopefully bringing in the new with something really old may help to do that”. The ancient collection includes items of pottery from the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya Kingdoms of Siam C.14th and C.15th century. Also, a superb Khmer Empire Bayon Jar C. 13th century and several provincial Ming Dynasty pieces from the C.17th Century. Vanessa added, “I will also have lots of collectibles and vintage items for sale including a group of Kanzashi (Japanese hair ornaments) and some W. Godwin tiles. The Sunday stalls at the Bedford Park Festival greens days are open from 11.30 am – 5.30 pm on Sunday 11th June 2017. Vanessa can be contacted on M: 07970 993 349
