Alice Poole Architects delighted to be named as finalists in all three categories entered
Winning the National Building Award 2019 for Architectural Designer of the Year was a career high point for Alice Poole who has always followed the design ethos of the Arts and Crafts and Bauhaus architects, by combining architecture, interior and furniture design to achieve a complete and unified scheme. Alice is thrilled to again be nominated for this Award in 2020 and, appropriately, it features a Listed Building by Arts and Crafts architect, EW Godwin, in Bedford Park. Alice Poole Architects has restored, altered and extended the property from five flats back into its original use as a family house. Being nominated for the Award for the Small Project Architect of the Year 2020 is especially rewarding as it features a Listed country property where original stables had become dilapidated and in desperate need of refurbishment. Alice Poole Architects extended and replanned them to create garaging, storage and holiday let units enabling new life to be breathed into the derelict buildings. Sustainable energy has been used with an air source heat pump providing 100% of the heating and a solar thermal coil providing hot water. The sole principal of Alice Poole Architects, Alice Poole is also thrilled to be nominated for the Women in Construction Award. Alice has successfully run her small practice continuously for 36 years, and says, “ I have purposely kept my practice small to enable me to deal with clients personally and I am always prepared to ‘go the extra mile' for them in finding a solution to every design request and problem and I work long hours to realise their aspirations.”
