Programme includes classical and jazz pieces plus a Sonnet to a Seal
The Addison Singers Choir
The choirs and classes of the Addison Singers are to perform in the twice postponed 50th anniversary concert on Saturday 9 July.
The event takes place St Peter’s Church, Southfield Road, (W4 1BB) starting at 7.30pm.
The concert aims to be a celebration of everything that makes the Addison Singers unique and includes a wide-range of music, involving all the Addison choir and classes, separately and together.
The programme includes a recent piece by conductor of the Jazz Choir, Jill Jarman, ‘Sonnet to a Seal’ that will be sung by all four choirs, as well as popular choruses by Verdi, Carl Orff, Vaughan Williams (whose 150th anniversary we celebrate this year), madrigals from the Chamber Choir, jazz standards sung by the Jazz Choir and Jazz Ensemble, and as a finale, the closing chorus from Stephen Sondheim’s musical ‘Sunday in the Park with George’. There might well be some surprises too.
Tickets bought in advance online cost £15 for adults or £3 for under sixteens (plus booking fee). On the door the prices are £20 and £5 respectively.
Under sixteens must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is sponsored by local estate agent Horton and Garton.
The Addison Singers, which was founded in 1971, comprises two classical choirs – an auditioned Chamber Choir and larger non-auditioned Oratorio Choir; and two jazz choirs – an auditioned Jazz Ensemble and a larger non-auditioned all-female Jazz Choir. It also offers three different singing classes to meet the needs of beginners, intermediate and the more competent, experienced singer.
